Background

Altor Equity Partners, the investment advisor to the Altor funds, was founded in 2003 by individuals with a proven track record in the Nordic private equity market.

Altor’s strategy is to focus on the middle market segment for Nordic private equity investments. This distinguishes Altor from many other Nordic private equity firms which are either smaller local firms in one of the four national markets or have expanded into making larger European acquisitions.

By the end of June 2008, Altor's first two funds had completed investments in 24 platform companies and remained shareholders in 22 of them. In a majority of these companies, the previous owners have remained shareholders reflecting Altor’s strategy to actively seek such partnerships. In 2006, Altor was the most active private equity investor in the Nordic middle market segment with seven investments made. The middle market segment is defined as transactions with and enterprise value of EUR 50 to 400 million.

The company has built up a strong investment team of Nordic professionals who all have profound international experience in private equity, consulting, investment banking and various industrial sectors.
