Who we are

Altor is a private equity firm focused on investing in and developing medium sized companies in the Nordic region. Our ambition is to make a real difference as a valuable partner for owners and managers in building world class companies.

Altor Equity Partners, the investment advisor to the Altor Funds, has an investment team with members representing every Nordic country. They all have international experience in fields such as private equity, consulting, investment banking and various industrial sectors. Altor is lead by nine Partners who have a successful track record of working with, and investing in, various businesses in the Nordic region.

Leading institutional investors from the Nordic region, the rest of Europe and the US have committed a total of EUR 3.8 billion to Altor in three funds. Altor 2003 Fund was closed in May 2003 with a committed capital of EUR 650 million, Altor Fund II closed in March 2006 with committed capital of EUR 1,150 million and Altor Fund III closed in August 2008 with a committed capital of EUR 2,000 million.

Altor’s latest fund is structured in a way that allows for significant additional equity contributions, which means that we can continue owning and investing in our portfolio companies over an extended period, supporting add-on acquisitions and strategic growth-oriented initiatives. The flexible structure of the fund also allows Altor to selectively invest in public companies, as well as to participate in debt restructuring situations.

Our investment strategy is to target sustainable performance improvements in order to build the strongest possible business over time. Such fundamental improvements are pursued within all fields, including enhanced revenue growth, margin expansion and capital efficiency.

Altor actively seeks to build and develop businesses in partnership with the incumbent owners and has achieved such co-ownerships in a majority of its investments to date.
