Altor entered into a fifty-fifty partnership with the current and earlier management of Dansk Cater, the previous owners, in December 2006. In May 2007, the first step in Euro Cater’s international expansion was taken through the acquisition of Svensk Snabbmat. As part of the transaction, the management of Svensk Snabbmat became part of the Euro Cater partnership.

Headquartered in Aalborg Denmark, Euro Cater has today 34 distribution sites across Denmark and Sweden as well as 7 distribution sites in Poland. Euro Cater has a turn over exceeding EUR 550 million which makes the company one of the leaders in Food Service in Northern Europe.

Food Service is an attractive growth industry driven by increased out of home food consumption. With its decentralized business model, Euro Cater offers its customers in all markets best in class products and service which will drive continued above market growth. Altor was attracted by Dansk Cater’s strong position in Denmark and its strong management team and identified the opportunity to drive consolidation in the fragmented Nordic market.

Altor and management’s joint development agenda is to continue to expand Euro Cater in both new and existing markets through acquisitions. Euro Cater can offer both large national leaders and smaller regional companies to become part of the Euro Cater partnership. This will give access to best in class operational tools within purchasing, IT, site development, etc. as well as the opportunity to continue to serve local customers with the business model that has proven successful historically.
