About ByggmaxByggmax is a leading Nordic DIY discount retailer. Altor acquired Byggmax in January 2006. Byggmax was listed on the Nasdaq OMX ("BMAX") on June 2, 2010. Byggmax has developed a unique DIY retailing concept, offering building materials of the highest quality at the lowest prices. All Byggmax outlets offer a drive-through system where customers load their selected goods themselves, accommodating the purchasing also of heavier building products. The company’s self-service philosophy and low cost operations, along with the consolidation of group procurements to a selection of high quality suppliers, allows Byggmax to deliver on its low price commitment. The company was founded in 1993 and had 27 owned outlets throughout Sweden at the time of Altor’s investment. Today, Byggmax is established in Sweden, Norway, and Finland with a total of 67 stores as of May 2010. Byggmax entered the Norwegian market in 2007 and has to date opened 13 stores. Finland was entered during the spring of 2008 and the company currently has 3 stores. The Swedish footprint has been expanded from 27 stores to 51 as of May 2010. Altor’s strategic agenda for Byggmax is focued on continued store network expansion in existing geographies, and over time also evaluate other geographical markets. |
