Investment Strategy

The Altor funds invest in companies in the middle market segment of the Nordic region. This means that Altor primarily seeks investments among the 2,000 Nordic companies with revenues between EUR 50 million and EUR 500 million.

The investment strategy is based on the belief that sustainable performance improvements in the underlying business build the strongest and most successful businesses over time.

We take on tough challenges. The majority of our investments are dedicated to businesses with strong market positions and stable cash flows – but we are also eager to take on tough challenges together with companies where we see clear turn-around potential. Altor's latest fund has therefore been structured to include flexibility to selectively participate also in debt restructuring situations.

We pursue investment opportunities where we through specific experience and through our network can provide a unique support for management in creating substantial and enduring performance improvements.

In certain situations, Altor may acquire companies with diversified business activities where there are possibilities to create additional value through strategic refocusing or divestitures of non-core assets.

Altor’s investment horizon stretches farther than that of the average private equity fund. Our funds are structured for investments in midsized companies with the intended flexibility for substantial additional equity commitments from investors. This allows us to continue owning and investing in our portfolio companies for an extended period, supporting add-on acquisitions and growth investments.

Altor actively seeks to build and develop businesses in partnership with the incumbent owners.
